Spring style: rainbows and ugly trainers continue to rule

3.10.2018

Unless you've been living under a rock you'll know that rainbow jumpers have been dominating our Instagram feeds for the entirety of 2018.

In fact, a rainbow jumper is pretty much one of the only things that managed to put a smile on my face on a dreary February morning - and don't even get me started about the snow - AM I RITE!?

Anyway, as the lighter mornings (HALLELUJAH) and £1 daffodils in M&S now suggest we're heading into spring, which means you're gunna want to get those razors at the ready gals cos it's nearly time to whack out those legs.

As much as we will all attempt to wear our trusty denim skirt and favorite funny slogan tee as soon as possible,  you will soon come to the conclusion that the weather isn't quite ready for that yet.

*Enter that awkward transitional wardrobe moment we all dread*

So, if you're wondering how to get through this awful inbetweeny phrase may I suggest the genius invention of a rainbow-jumper-dress.

After all, who hasn't absolutely loved the nostalgia and fun wardrobe twist of the rainbow jumper trend?

Anyone? Raise your hand? Nope. Nobody. Didn't think so.

With its toasty knit material it still allows you to let that spring breeze hit your pale AF (yet now smooth) legs and will also make sure you don't freeze you ta-ta's off. So, it's pretty much a win-win.

As for footwear? You might as well invest in a pair of Dad trainers now, even if you're not fully on-board with the ugly shoe trend it's only going to get bigger and, well, uglier as the year goes on.

As I've well documented on my Instagram and YouTube ugly sneakers got my seal of approval as soon as I had a Cinderalla moment with a pair of ''Balehoiaga's''.

Since then, I am very pleased to report that tons of high street stores have got on the bandwagon, creating their own chunky trainers that won't set you back Balenciaga's £600 price tag.  I found these on Boohoo for £22, meanwhile Topshop have a killer pair for £38.

Now having written this post I appreciate that 'a jumper dress and trainers' really isn't - to quote Miranda Priestly - 'groundbreaking'.

However, add a dash of rainbow and a chunky trainer and you have yourself a very on-trend spring (or as we like to call it in the biz 'SS18') look.

So, whilst I impatiently wait for the summer rays to hit my pale-ass stubbly legs this is what I will be living in.

  1. This outfit is such a perfect look for spring, the rainbow brights trend is one I am fully on board with. I adore the trainers too, I've grown an obsession with big chunky, rather ugly trainers but I can't get enough of them!
